Dr Kalokola who is an economist and a businessman said once confirmed as the national leader he will transform the country’s economy and restore a governance system that Tanzanians have missed for years.
“I am an economist by profession…I can transform the economy,” he said, noting that for Tanzania’s Shilling to stabilize against the US Dollar, there must be concerted efforts to increase exports and restrict the use of foreign currencies in the country.
Dr Kalokola said that the reasons given by the central bank about depreciation of the Shilling were faulty and that the supply of dollars was constrained by big international companies that export portions of their revenues out of Tanzania in dollars.
He said some leaders are now pursuing conduct that is contrary from what the CCM election manifesto of 2010 directs, and that he was the only candidate who would bring back the government to implement the party’s plans.
He gave an example of the new constitution process, arguing that it was not in the CCM manifesto but because the top leaders are bowing to pressure from the opposition, they have spent a lot of public money in a process that wasn’t successful.
“I’m a well trained person and studied at a prestigious university in Nairobi,” he told the media and a crowd of supporters, elaborating that some people say leadership does not necessarily need higher degrees “but I tell such people that great minds start from school.”
