NO ONE LIKE ZITTO:...Zitto urges establishment of processing industries

The leader of the opposition ACT Wazalendo, Zitto Kabwe

The leader of the opposition ACT Wazalendo, Zitto Kabwe, has advised the government to set up processing industries that would add value to exports and create job opportunities.
Addressing a public rally here yesterday, he said exporting unprocessed raw materials was tantamount to exporting job opportunities for Tanzanians to other countries.
He said exporting raw materials exposes Tanzanians to poverty because they are denied their right to work. Giving an example of Kagera Region, he said although it is renowned for coffee production its people are still poor.
He blamed the government for allowing a few businessmen to monopolise the business in cash crops, saying:
“The common man cannot dare export coffee, sugar or cashewnuts. He will be kicked out of the business within no time because most cash crops were being handled by a few businessmen,” he said.
Kabwe said the ACT Wazalendo was the only opposition party that could bring to an end the monopoly by few businessmen.
He said this was because other political parties were also being controlled by the same businessmen. “It is not an easy job to deal with big businessmen but ACT Wazalendo is prepared to face them for the interest and welfare of Tanzanians,” he said.
Addressing the rally earlier, ACT Wazalendo national Chairperson Anna Mgwira said its main objective was to fight for the rights of poor Tanzanians as well as assist them get rid of poverty.
