Baps Charities offers Ramadhan donations to orphanages

A Dar es Salaam-based non-governmental organisation Baps Charities, yesterday donated food items to four orphanages for use by their children during this month of Ramadhan.
 
The items worth 3.5m/-  will benefit 196 orphans from the  Hisan Centre at  Mbagala Maji Matitu,  Al Furqan kwa Dadi,  Hiari Centre at Chang’ombe  and  Umra of Magomeni.
 
The secretary of the organisation, Paresh Chollera, said  each centre received 50 kilogrammes of wheat flour, 50 kg of maize flour, 25 kg of rice , 25 kg of sugar, 25 kg of  beans, two kg of salt,  five kg of spaghetti and 20  litres of  cooking oil.
 
Chollera said apart from food items  each child was  given  tooth paste, tooth brush, body jelly, biscuits, juice, water, chocolate, candy and  crisps.
The secretary said Baps Charities donated the items in response to a call by their religious leader in India that they should help other people in need.
Chollera said the organisation donates to Islamic orphanages where most children are fasting during this month of Ramadhan.
 
The Director of Hisan Orphanage Centre, Hidaya  Mtelemwa,  commended the organization for  assisting the children during this Holy  month of Ramadhan, saying:
 
“We thank you for your kind assistance. We remember that this is the fourth time you are helping us, thank you very much…” 
She added that her centre has   20 female and 25 male orphans as well as five workers.
